Please note... I have added to the Plans page.

Sorry for the delay .... a lot has been going on.......

First an overview (while fixing the TV aerial) of the courtyard.

We have had some heavy lifting in...unfortunately I couldn't stay to watch the main steel girders go in.

This was to drop in place the main steel beams that support the first floor and the gallery.

This nest one is a pretty regular occurrence as Ian on the Hiab delivers blocks and cement and generally moves stuff where Dave tells him.

It all done with cups of tea!!

The first floor has moved up quickly with this being the view from the master bedroom...

Meanwhile in the living area the studding for our own design wall has gone in.

Kitchen to the left - pantry beyond the doorway will be open with an arch.    The ladder is under a hatch to a storage area over the stairs. An archway again.

The blockwork wall in the middle of this pair of pictures will come down - it was our mistake!!

The orange girder at the top of these two pictures is 18 inches deep!!!

And down below, the cellar has the inner layer of waterproofing in place. Wooden studding next and then the boards.

I have done a design to share the space between the shower room, wine cellar and utility.

Meanwhile upstairs in the existing house....

The studding is going in to make two bedrooms and a bathroom.

This gives a good idea of how it is going to look.

Its now just the sub-zero weather that is stopping the hallway roof going on.

View from the first floor lobby along the gallery. Front door and a window below.

We have done a redesign of the north end of the living area.

This is looking from the pantry across the access way (garage to the left) into the cupboard over the stairway to the cellar.

Beyond the end of that cupboard is what will be a small loft space over the stairs. We aim to use it for "once a year" stuff, Xmas decorations and so on.

These nail guns are neat!!!

Sparky has started work!!! This lot is in the new upstairs bedrooms and bathroom over the lounge.

Wiring is going in for the main power and lighting, telephones, computer network, TV aerial, satellite dish, remote opening for the gate and alarms.

Its a lot of copper!!

Meanwhile today and yesterday they have cut a 15 foot by 3 foot hole through my garage floor!!

Seems a better idea than working outside in the cold.

10th February and we are under a bit of snow and the whole thing is wringing wet and looks thoroughly miserable :-(

And to cap it all - someone has stolen our ceilings!

This is our old bedroom!!!

On a brighter note the first batch of windows has arrived.

15th February

At home with flu so time to post some pics.

The new hallway from above.

View from the front door up to the gallery and roof.

Number two bedroom in the extension - not quite as narrow as it looks.

Some of the phone, TV and data wiring

The Japanese room with insulation in place.

New windows going in.

Handy thing a Kubota - a cement delivery

The lobby/stairwell in the garage. The big (lower) steel joists are due to be cut off today.

23rd February

The steel joists are still there, but the wall has grown quite a bit.

With the mild weather it has been busy outside......

Big chunks of Austrian pine for the ridge and purlins. 6 metres long by 300mm x 150mm. Heavy!

With much effort and not a little care, these were manhandled up to the first floor.

Looking into the master bedroom and the other new bedroom. The platform on the right is about 8 inches below the bed platform.

We have also been busy visiting tile and bathroom showrooms, this is the layout for the new bathroom in the existing house.

(best viewed somewhat from the left - otherwise I find the door falls over!!)

We have also had the AGA man round to visit and the underfloor heating guy. The alarm people are coming next week and by then we should have a roof!!!!
